Night envelops me like a blanket
as the tide pounds the unseen shore.
Ceaseless winds ride the waves
drowning out all other sound.
Staring into the void, I neither see nor hear,
but try to speak as sounds of silence
reunite with a voice, wanting and
needing to append the narrative,
yet there’s no one to listen.
At water’s edge I peer into that good night
that’s anything but gentle
as the battle rages against age and time.

  1. Incredibly haunting and it reverberates in those last few lines.
