I love music, I love to travel, and I love to write. My blog "A Thousand Miles from Kansas" combines all three. I am a Kansas boy and an educator on sabbatical. I have lived in many places around the globe and I currently live in northern Japan. Journey with me as I combine my loves of music, travel, and the written word as I navigate through life.

Haiku #112
A photo and haiku of a lone bus stop chair in northern Japan. Recently published in Dust Poetry Magazine!

The days have been rainy and are now turning cold. Misawa winter is right around the corner.

Haiku #110
Typhoon Dolphin has been pounding the eastern coast of Japan.

Haiku #109
I always find myself at water’s edge for deep reflections.
