Stranger Creek and the Big Yellow School Bus

Stranger Creek and the Big Yellow School Bus

My family moved to a farm in Northeast Kansas when I was in the 2nd grade. That meant a new school and a new mode of transportation to get to school: a big yellow school bus.

Hello. I’m Johnny Cash…well his Top Ten songs anyway!

Hello. I’m Johnny Cash…well his Top Ten songs anyway!

Although rock and heavy metal are my genres of choice, variety is the spice of life. My love for music was born out of the many genres I was exposed to growing up in Kansas. The Bittersweet Tree

The Bittersweet Tree

I wrote “The Bittersweet Tree” in 1988. It was always a favorite of my Grandmother’s. It was published in the quarterly magazine Sunflower Petals back in 1989. I hope you enjoy my poem.

Tokyo Part Three: 47 Ronin

Tokyo Part Three: 47 Ronin

One of the greatest samurai stories of Japanese loyalty and revenge can be found in the legendary tale of the 47  Ronin, also known as the Ako Incident. The story of these 47 samurai and their loyalty to their master is inspirational and heart breaking. While in Tokyo last month, I visited the ashes of the legendary 47 Ronin interred at Sengakuji Temple.
