The Road of Trying Times

I penned this poem back in the spring of 2020 while COVID-19 and the Pandemic invaded the world. I was in Salina, Kansas and a simple trip for food was a life-risking mission of necessity.

I gaze out the truck window
a passenger on this road of trying times

On a quest to shop essentially and wantingly…
braving the touch and breath of those that

hover and linger too close  around me
only a thin mask between life and possible death.
Six – twelve feet people!
