8th Grade Student: Mr. V., is that Snoopy on your cup?

Me: Yes, it is.

8th Grade Student: What kind of cup is that? (look of disdain)

Me: It’s a thermal tumbler for my Earl Grey tea.

8th Grade Student: How do you get the tea out to drink it? (look of concern)

Me: Pop the lid and drink from the hole. (perform the task for clarification)

8th Grade Student: Oh. It’s a sippy cup. (look of satisfaction)

Me: No, it’s a tumbler. See? (hold the cup upside down)

8th Grade Student: Yeah. an adult sippy cup. (look of that’s what I said before)

Me: Yeah, I guess it is a sippy cup. (walk away without eye contact)
