Rainy Night

RAINY NIGHT

The windows are all closed,

my thoughts pre-supposed.

Too many years have passed

from the time I saw you last.

The fear your absence cast

will one day live in the past.

I pull the shades down silently

as the raindrops fall slowly

and all I can do is frown

while I try not to drown.

As these thoughts creep…

I will not sleep.
